’24P 10A 6S’ Lee Kyung-do “Defence is more fun than attack”
Sophomore G Kyung-do Lee (G, 185cm) recorded a double-double to lead Dankook University to victory.
Lee had an all-around performance in KU’s 2023 KUSF College Basketball U-League home game against Sangmyung University on 9 September at KU’s Cheonan Campus Gymnasium, finishing with 24 points, 10 assists, six steals and four rebounds in 28 minutes and 31 seconds. Dankook won 85-69.
Lee said, “It feels good to win the ‘Cheonan Derby’ against Sangmyung University. And it’s even better because our defence worked as well as we practised,” he said.먹튀검증
Lee played for less than two minutes until the third quarter. Especially in the first half, she played the entire time without making any substitutions. “I think the coach believed in me, so I think I played with more responsibility,” she explained.
Lee had 21 points in the first half alone, showing off her hot fingertips. Having had enough, she focused on getting her teammates going in the third quarter, dishing out seven assists in the third quarter alone to complete a double-double. Six steals were a bonus.
“I think I was a little more aggressive than the other day because I had a lot of offensive opportunities. Yesterday (8th), I stayed up late at night to practice shooting. Today (9th), I also worked hard in the morning. I think the hard work paid off,” he said of his performance.
Dankook University plays a leech-like defence that puts pressure on opponents. They run one step further than their opponents and harass them with their activity. How did opposing players react when they met Dankook University’s Lee Kyung-do?
“My friends say I make them throw up (laughs). They say, ‘Do it moderately, do it weakly. But we try to play harder because it’s the only way we can win,” he said.
“We don’t have a strong offence, so we work harder on defence. Because we’re working so hard, the players are enjoying defence. I don’t know if it’s a personal thing, but I think some players on the team are having more fun defending than attacking. I feel the same way,” he said, showing his pride and love for defence.
With the win, Dankook moved into a tie for third place with Chung-Ang University. The battle for the top spot will be decided in the final match. Regardless of the outcome of their remaining games, the winner of the head-to-head will take third place.
“We can only get third place if we beat Chung-Ang University. We’ve heard that if we finish third, it will be the first time in the school’s history. We want to get it. It’s the last game of the league, so we want to prepare hard and play a good game,” he said.
