New York Mets Carlos Carrasco (36) finally got his first win of the season.

Carrasco pitched six and two-thirds innings of five-hit ball (one home run) with two walks and four strikeouts in a 10-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on 26 June. It was Carrasco’s first win in his fifth start of the season. Prior to this start, Carrasco was 2-2 with an 8.68 ERA.

Carrasco is a veteran of 105 career MLB wins (87 losses). In 2017, with the Cleveland Indians (now the Cleveland Cavaliers), he went 18-6 with a 3.29 ERA and finished fourth in the American League Cy Young Award voting. Expectations were high when he joined the Mets via trade in January 2021. He struggled with a hamstring injury in his first season, going 1-5 with a 6.04 ERA. He rebounded last year with 15 wins (7 losses), but has been up and down again this year. Since the Cubs game, he is 1-2 with a 6.75 ERA.안전놀이터

It was a shaky start. He gave up a home run to Dansby Swanson with the bases loaded in the bottom of the first inning for a 1-0 lead. But he quickly settled down. With two outs in the top of the third, he induced Mike Tuckman to ground out to second base to keep the game scoreless. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, he was replaced by Adam Ottavino after giving up a single to left to Jan Gomes.

According to MLB.com, the official website of Major League Baseball, “The Mets don’t have a consistent third option in the rotation behind Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer. If Carrasco can become that pitcher again, the team’s pitching situation will be much different. “We all know what Carrasco means to us,” said Mets manager Buck Showalter.
