CJ Super Race, the first night race in the metropolitan area at Yongin Circuit
Are you missing summer by any chance? If so, it’s time to go on a night out to Yongin, Gyeonggi-do this weekend. This is because the circuit, soaked in the heat of August, is wriggling again with the dazzling lights of supercars. The roaring noise of the summer night leaving is a bonus.
CJ Super Race, the only car racing event in Korea that has turned the halfway point of the season, greets fans with its first “Night Race” in the metropolitan area this weekend. The stage is the 5th round of the CJ Logistics Super Race Championship, the so-called ‘Summer Festival’, at Everland Speedway in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province for two days from the 19th.
On the 19th, Super 6000 Class and Sports Prototype Cup Korea will be held, and on the 20th, following the GT Class and M Class, Prototype Cup Korea will be held once more.
In particular, the ‘Super 6000’, the top class of the Super Race, will be held for the first time in the metropolitan area at night. The Night Race is the signature event of Super Race. In the meantime, it was held only once a year at Inje Speedium in Gangwon, but this year it was held once more at Yongin Circuit, greatly lowering the entry barrier for fans in the metropolitan area.
‘Super 6000’ is a class that Ecsta Racing swept in the first half of last year. From the 1st to 4th rounds, he won all of them and showed an overwhelming advantage. The driver’s championship competition structure is also an aspect of Ecsta’s ‘fighting in the house’. Lee Chan-jun (81 points) and Lee Chang-wook (70 points) placed 1st and 2nd in driver championship points.
However, in Yongin, it is necessary to keep an eye on mid-level players who do not have handicap weights. Due to the nature of Yongin Speedway’s night course with many low-speed corners, machines with handicap weights are inevitably burdensome. Currently, the top players in the 1st to 4th ranks carry handicap weights.
Kyu-Seung Park (Brand New Racing, 46 points) and Jun-Seo Park (CJ Logistics Racing, 32 points), who made their debut in the Super 6000 this season, as well as ‘Veteran’ Hyun-Jin Jang (Seohan GP, 29 points), are in the middle ranks without handcap weights. Drivers are aiming to win the first metropolitan night race.
In particular, Park Gyu-seung, who is challenging the Super 6000 for the first time this season, is showing improvement every round, including his second podium in the third round. Having the experience of winning the GT class night race last season, expectations are high. Park Jun-seo recently exploded his potential by rising to 4th place for two rounds in a row.
In the GT class, the battle for the upper ranks is fierce. Jung Kyung-hoon (BIT R&D, 67 points), who is aiming for the season champion for six consecutive years, is running as the point leader, followed closely by Park Seok-chan (Brand New Ray) and Jung Won-hyung (BIT R&D, more than 49 points).메이저놀이터
