Director Shin Tae-yong of ‘K-League’s father-first inductee’ “The honor of the family… It’s the first time I’ve ever received such a big award”
‘K-League Rich’ coach Shin Tae-yong showed that he is a ‘Korean professional soccer legend’ in front of his two sons.
The Korea Professional Football Federation (hereinafter referred to as the federation) held an induction ceremony for six inductees to the ‘K League Hall of Fame’ at 11:00 am on the 2nd at the Ambassador Pullman Grand Ballroom in Jangchung-dong, Seoul. ‘Seongnam Legend’ Shin Tae-yong, the current coach of the Indonesian national team, is one of the inductees.
The federation established the ‘K League Hall of Fame’ this year to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the K League’s launch. Beginning with this year, nominees will be selected every two years.
The categories selected are player-leader-contributor. According to the federation, the player division was divided into 1st to 4th generations, and a total of 60 candidates were selected, 15 from each generation, through a selection committee. Afterwards, 25% of the votes from the selection committee, fans, reporters, and 25 K-League team secretariat representatives and coaches were each selected, and one person from each generation was selected.
The leader and contributor categories were selected through discussion among the selection committee members without a separate voting process.
Choi Soon-ho, Hong Myung-bo, Shin Tae-yong, and Lee Dong-guk were named as the first inductees in the player category, former Ulsan Hyundai manager Kim Jeong-nam in the leader category, and Park Tae-joon, the late honorary chairman of POSCO, in the contributor category.
His sons Shin Jae-won and Shin Jae-hyuk, who are currently active in the K-League, came forward as recommendations for coach Shin Tae-yong. The two brothers stepped up to the podium and handed over the trophy with respectful words, saying, “After stepping on the professional stage, I felt the greatness of the path my father had trodden on.”
From 1992 to 2004, coach Shin Tae-yong played for Seongnam FC’s predecessors, Ilhwa Chunma, Cheonan Ilhwa, and Seongnam Ilhwa. It is a legend that left his career record of 401 games, 99 goals and 68 assists.
Coach Shin Tae-yong recorded 60 points and 60 assists for the first time in the K-League in 2003. He also achieved the first 400 appearances in the K-League.
Not only this. He also succeeded as a manager in Seongnam. Coach Shin Tae-yong, who has been in charge of Seongnam since 2009, won the 2010 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League.
His son Shin Jae-won is also related to Seongnam like his father. Shin Jae-won, who started his professional life at FC Seoul in the 2019 season and played for Ansan and Suwon FC, made a new nest in Seongnam early this year. Shin Jae-won, who stands out from the side, is a multiplayer who can play both wing forward and wing back.
At the time of joining Seongnam, Shin Jae-won said, “Since I was a child, Seongnam has been a special team for me. My parents also liked it very much. There is a sense of pressure. It is because my father is a Seongnam legend.” Yes. When I was young, I liked yellow the most. Now (Seongnam uniforms) are black,” he said.
‘Legend of Seongnam’ Shin Tae-yong, who received the trophy from his two sons, said, “I am grateful to be able to receive such a great award. Athletes think their parents are the hardest. I am grateful that my two sons recommended me as a contributor.”
Along with Shin Jae-won, Shin Jae-hyeok (Ansan Greeners) also plays in the K-League. “My two sons are also playing in the K-League, so this dedication is a family honor,” said coach Shin Tae-yong, who was even more thrilled that day.
He added, “Until now, there has been no such big award. I confirmed it through the media because I was abroad. I wanted it to be good. I expected it because I worked hard in the K-League.
Finally, he said, “Actually, my name was widely known in the league rather than the national team. I think that’s why I was able to stand here.” “I will try to develop the K-League further. I have FC, but I am proud of being a ‘one-club man’. I hope more juniors will feel proud of the K-League. I would appreciate it if you would work hard (even in the surroundings). Thank you for giving me a big award.”메이저사이트
