Hot Jamsil derby finalist Kim Min-sung “Fun game after a long time, Ji-hwan and Joo-hyun flow into defense”

LG veteran infielder Kim Min-sung shared his thoughts on his performance in the hotly contested game. Although he was the hero of the game-winning hit, he gave credit to his teammates, saying that the flow of the game was more important.

Kim started at second base in the seventh spot against Doosan in Jamsil on April 16 and went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. He led off the game with a double to center field in his first at-bat of the first inning and scored the game-winning run with a single to left field in the bottom of the seventh inning with the score tied at 4-4. -It was a hard-fought game, how do you feel about the win?

I think we played a fun game after a long time. It would have been nice to win easily, but I think we won because our players defended well in a difficult situation, especially (Oh) Ji-hwan and (Jung) Joo-hyun. I think the flow came from there.

You did a good job at the plate with your -3 at-bats, especially the game-winning hit in the seventh inning.

In the seventh inning, Ji-hwan and Joo-hyun made really good plays on defense, so I think the flow came in the seventh inning. The momentum carried over to our offense and I was able to get a good result.

-Oh Ji-hwan’s play at the plate in the game-winning run was also good. He knew he was going to be in the right field, so he played aggressively.

After the offensive inning, I thanked him. It shouldn’t be my main focus, but I’m grateful that he came home.

-You started almost every game at the beginning of the season. You said you were struggling at the time, but lately you’ve been playing every game, even if you’re not starting. Is your form better now?

I think it helped that I was struggling at the beginning. I’m very healthy now. The manager has been very considerate, so I’ve been preparing well without getting sick.

-Now, I don’t know what position I’m going to play every day. How is that part of the game?

Honestly, it’s hard. It’s not easy, but you have to do it. They think I’m important in that role, so they put me out there, so I’m trying to do my best to fit in.

-With the bench clearing, did you feel differently today against Doosan?

I didn’t really feel that way. It’s one of the 10 teams and one of the difficult teams. The players are preparing well for every team without thinking about it.

-I’m a free agent after this season.

I don’t play with a lot of ceremony. But I’m playing a lot of games, so I think if I keep playing according to my role and don’t get sick, I’ll have good results.

-You were encouraging Lee Jae-won when he made an error earlier. I think it might have been harder for Lee Jae-won because he was immediately substituted.

That’s a difficult situation as a player. Jae-won didn’t play first base professionally, so that situation happened. I hit him in the back once because I didn’t want him to feel bad for one mistake. Players have to manage their minds well in these situations. If you beat yourself up and think you can’t do it, you can’t get out of it. You have to reset and play with a new mindset. Then you can go to the next level. I experienced it a lot in the past. Baseball is very difficult because you play every day and you can make mistakes. If you organize yourself well in this situation, you can become a good player. Jae-Won has a good mentality, so I think he will do well again.
