“Injury of an electrician? Crisis is an opportunity” Hyundai Capital Director Choi Tae-woong’s ‘Happiness Circuit’
The main gun is injured, but the command tower does not give up. Hyundai Capital coach Choi Tae-woong, who is challenging the top of ‘Spring Volleyball’, launched a winning scenario.
Coach Choi said at the Dodram 2022-2023 V-League Post-Season Media Day held at Nuritream Square in Mapo, Seoul on the afternoon of the 20th, “I came with the goal of 3rd and 4th place in the regular league and playoffs (PO), but I rode the flow well in the middle.” He shared his impressions of advancing to the postseason. He continued, “From the middle of the season (setter) Lee Hyun-seung took his place uncharacteristically as a rookie, so the team came this far stably. It was a season where Jeon Kwang-in and Oreol also set the standard well.”
Although he advanced to the spring volleyball PO in second place in the regular league, coach Choi’s face was full of worries. It’s because of Captain Jeon Kwang-in’s injury.
Jeon Kwang-in suffered a right ankle injury after blocking in a home game against KEPCO held in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do on the 9th. It is virtually difficult for Jeon Kwang-in, who needs 3-4 weeks of treatment, to participate in the PO.
Jeon Kwang-in, an outside hitter, scored 406 points in 34 games this season. He played an active role on both sides of the offense and defense with an attack success rate of 55.69%, receiving efficiency of 40.03%, and 1.828 digs per set.
Coach Choi said, “It’s very unfortunate that Jeon Kwang-in was injured at the end. I want to be more greedy, but I feel sorry for the players for that.” I don’t want to miss the spring volleyball opportunity that came three years after finishing third in the regular league in the 2019-2020 season, but at this point I can’t make unreasonable demands on the players. 토토사이트
Still, I did not forget the happy imagination. Coach Choi smiled at the prospect of spring volleyball, saying, “I hope that KEPCO and Woori Card will come up exhausted after a close 5-set deuce and become our training partners.” He hoped that Jeon Kwang-in would play in the championship match, saying, “3 to 0 for us, we will become training partners only twice and Jeon Kwang-in will return.”
In addition, Coach Choi expressed his wish, “Korean Air did well in the first game of the championship match, but lost to us due to lack of sense of the game, and we want to continue the flow smoothly and win the championship after losing only one game.” Although it was second place in the regular league in the 2018-2019 season, it expressed its desire to repeat the glory of winning the championship by defeating Korean Air.
The men’s post-season will open on the 22nd with a single semi-PO between Woori Card, 3rd in the regular league, and KEPCO, 4th. The winning team will play PO with Hyundai Capital on the 24th. From the 30th, the PO winner will enter the championship match against Korean Air, which is ranked first in the regular league, in a best-of-five series.
