‘Injury returner’ Kim goes 1-for-1 with a walk and a hit-by-pitch…but team loses 2-3
San Diego Padres infielder Ha-Sung Kim made his return from injury. He showed good form with a two-run game, but the team lost in extra innings.
San Diego lost 2-3 in 10 extra innings against the New York Yankees in the 2023 Major League Baseball World Series at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York, United States, on 28 April.
Kim complained of pain after being hit in the left knee by his own foul ball against the Washington Nationals on the 26th. The injury was so serious that he was called to the trainer’s box, but fortunately, the bruise did not keep him out for long.토토사이트
After a day off against the Yankees on the 27th, Kim started at shortstop and batted eighth, going 1-for-3 with a double, a single, and a walk. His season batting average rose slightly to 2-for-3, up from 2-for-7.
In his first at-bat after the top of the third inning with his team trailing 1-0, he struck out. Instead, defensively, DJ LeMahieu doubled with runners on first and third in the bottom of the inning and it looked like two runs were on the board, but Kim made an accurate and quick relay play to catch Rizzo trying to steal home.
Kim drew a walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth inning after Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a solo home run to make it 1-1. He didn’t get a follow-up hit and didn’t advance any further. Then, in the bottom of the fifth, the defence came through once again. He got a good grip on Kainer Palepa’s hard-hit ball and made a difficult one-turn throw to first base for the final out.
Kim came up big in his third at-bat of the seventh inning. With runners on first and second, he lined a single to left off Yankees reliever Michael King. After giving up a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the seventh, he gave up a game-tying single to Isaiah Kainer-Palepa in the top of the 10th.
