‘Is this the team!!?’…KT, the first team, etc.-Malso only 10 people→Hwang Jae-gyun ‘call-up’ to the defeat
KT Wiz made big changes to the first team roster. They expunged five players at once.
KT announced the status of its first-team roster on Wednesday ahead of the eighth game of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League against the Doosan Bears at KT Wiz Park in Suwon.
Pitchers Kim Jung-woon and Chae-ho, infielder Oh Yoon-seok and outfielders Lee Si-won and Hong Hyun-bin have been demoted to the second team, while pitchers Park Se-jin and Lee Sang-dong, infielder Hwang Jae-gyun and outfielders Ahn Chi-young and Jeong Jun-young have been added to the first team roster.
KT lost 1-10 against Doosan the day before. The game was completely tilted in Doosan’s favour as Lee Chae-ho, who came in as the third pitcher, gave up five runs, including three home runs, in ⅔ of an inning. Rookie Kim Jung-woon, who came in after Lee, also had a shaky outing, giving up one run on four hits with two walks and one strikeout in 1⅔ innings.안전놀이터
The result was a result, but the number of unearned runs left Lee frustrated, and he was forced to make a decision to warn his players.
In the midst of all this, the return of Hwang Jae-gyun, the main third baseman, to the first team is good news for KT. It’s been exactly four weeks since he was removed from the roster on the 6th of last month.
At the time, Hwang was travelling to Daejeon for a three-game series against the Hanwha Eagles when he felt pain in his left foot during training on the fifth day. A medical examination the next day diagnosed a microfracture in his left second toe, forcing him to leave the lineup for a while.
After dedicating over three weeks to his recovery, Hwang made his first appearance in the Futures League against the Lotte Giants on the 31st of last month and then against the NC Dinos on the 2nd.
He got a hit in both games to improve his fielding skills and successfully prepare for his return to the first team.
