“It was good that you brought him.” The veiled national team Edman, the command tower smiled with satisfaction
The first Korean-American player on the Korean baseball team, Tommy Hyeonsu Edman (28, St. Louis Cardinals), left a good first impression in the team’s first training session.
Edman, who first stepped on Korean soil through Incheon International Airport on the 1st, participated in the national team training held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the afternoon of the 2nd, greeted his teammates, and started training in earnest to prepare for the WBC.
Edman wore the number 11 shirt with the name TH EDMAN on it. In front of the original English name, EDMAN, TH, an abbreviation of TOMMY HYUNSOO, was added to contain the Korean identity온라인바카라. Edman is a Korean player born in May 1995, the second of two sons and one daughter to a Korean mother, Kwak Gyeong-ah, and a college baseball coach father, John Edman.
Upon arrival at the stadium, Edmund conducted defensive shifts and operational training in private, and then began batting practice in front of reporters at 4:30 pm. Edmund, who was in the left at-bat, sent the bat far away with an exciting swing, and occasionally buntted during practice.
National team coach Lee Kang-cheol, who watched the training, said, “They are very active. He tries to speak Korean. I am grateful that he trained hard,” he said with a satisfied smile.
He said, “If I came to the national team together in the past and condescended, the team atmosphere would have been bad, but I am glad to see them working hard. I think it will have a good influence on the players,” he expressed his expectations for the Edmon effect.
After going through twists and turns the previous day, Lee Kang-cheol took a break until the morning and gathered at the Gocheok Dome in the afternoon to conduct his first complete training. The previous day, major leaguer Keystone combination Kim Ha-seong (San Diego Padres) and Tommy Edman also stepped on Korean soil, and all 30 players finally gathered on the ground and teamed up.
Coach Lee said, “It’s nice to come to Korea, but I liked the part where all the players gathered and started over. Of course, the process of coming to Korea was difficult, but today I didn’t show anything like that, and I did my best as if it was like that.”
Before departing for Japan on the 4th, the national team will have their last unofficial practice match against last year’s champion, SSG Landers, at Gocheok Dome on the 3rd. In order for as many pitchers as possible to throw the ball, a hybrid game is held in which the national team pitcher climbs the SSG mound, and major leaguers Kim Ha-seong and Edmon are not allowed to participate in the match due to WBC regulations.
Coach Lee said, “The national team will be selected by Go Young-pyo, and SSG will be selected by Kim Gwang-hyun. Ha-seong Kim and Edman, who could not participate in the game, will train with live betting after the game.”
