Koo Ja-cheol, president of the Korea Professional Golf Association (KPGA), expressed his intention to reappoint, saying, “If the opportunity arises, I will play a role in the development of the association once more.”

Chairman Koo Ja-cheol held a press conference in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 14th and said, “Since taking office as chairman in 2020, I have been focusing on quantitative growth.”

Chairman Koo Ja-cheol, who took office as the 18th chairman of the KPGA in 2020, is the last year of his four-year term.

During the tenure of President Ja-Cheol Koo, the association has made significant progress in terms of the number of tournaments and total prize money.

This year, the KPGA Korean Tour season will be held with 25 tournaments and a total prize money of 25 billion won, which is the largest number of tournaments and the largest prize money ever.

The second and third places in this category are also 20.3 billion won in 21 competitions in 2022 and 15.6 billion won in 17 competitions in 2021, during the tenure of Chairman Koo Ja-cheol.

Compared to the 2019 season, before the inauguration of Chairman Koo, 10 competitions increased, and the total prize money for the season increased by more than 12 billion won.

Chairman Koo said, “When I took office, KPGA was in a difficult situation, so I focused on quantitative growth.” I will try to draw the big picture for you,” he said.

Negotiations are currently underway for the new broadcast rights by designating Innocean and SBS Medianet as the preferred negotiators.

KPGA explained on the day, “The value of the new broadcasting rights is ‘6 billion won + α’ per year, which is a total of more than 30 billion won for 5 years.”

When the INNOCEAN-SBS Medianet consortium finally concludes the contract for broadcasting rights, they will create a new golf channel with KPGA as the main channel to broadcast the second part of the tour and the Champions Tour.

Chairman Koo Ja-cheol said, “If the first two years of my tenure were like 9 holes of golf, and there were about 2 double bogeys, I think I made pars with 1 birdie in the 2nd half of the year.” As much as men’s golf has its own charm, I will try to show it well.”안전놀이터
