Korean badminton advances to Sudirman Cup final… 6 years of challenge

The Korean badminton team reached the final at the 2023 World Mixed Team Championships (Sudirman Cup).

Korea, led by coach Kim Hak-kyun, beat Malaysia 3-1 in the semifinals of the tournament held at the Olympic Sports Center in Suzhou, China on the 20th (Korean time).

With this, Korea will challenge for the 5th championship in 6 years since 2017.

In this tournament, which is held once every two years, Korea was eliminated in the quarterfinals in 2019 and ranked third in 2021.

After winning all three matches in the group stage and defeating Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals, Korea continued its momentum in the semifinals as well.

In Korea, Kim Won-ho (Samsung Life Insurance) and Na Seong-seung (Gimpo City Hall) team of men’s doubles, who participated in four games, defeated Aaron Chia-Sowaik 2-0 to secure victory.

Korea will play the final match against the winners of China and Japan, another semi-final, at 3:00 pm on the 21st.
