OK Financial Group Leo, triple crown strength in 1 set
OK Financial Group’s Leo (32) showed off his strength to achieve a triple crown in the first set.
Leo blocked Thais’ back attack in the 1st set 21-21 against KEPCO in the 3rd round of the 2022-2023 V-League held at Ansan Sangnoksu Gymnasium on the 11th. Leo, who previously recorded 7 back attacks, 3 serve points, and 2 blocks, achieved a triple crown. This is the 4th record this season and the 10th overall.
It is the second time in the history of the V-League to complete the triple crown in the first set. In the match between Korean Air and Woori Card held on November 24, 2017, Mitcha Gasparini of Korean Air scored 14 points in the first set. Among them, there were three each of back attack, serve scoring, and blocking. 스포츠토토
Leo exerted more power than Gasparini. He quickly changed the mood of the game by scoring consecutive serves on the first serve in a 3-6 situation. He recorded 72.2% attack success rate, including 7 successful back attacks, and scored 19 points to win the first set.
The 19 points is Leo’s second most individual set score. On November 19, 2013, when he was at Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, he scored 20 points in one set in the Woori Card game. As of this season, it is the best record in the V-League men’s division. Previously, KB Insurance’s Nicola Melanac had raised 15 points.
Leo continued his three-game streak from the match against Samsung Fire on the 2nd. The triple crown in three consecutive games is the fourth after Milos Kulapich (KEPCO) in the 2010-11 season, Christian Padar (Woori Card) in the 2017-18 season, and Padar (Hyundai Capital) in the 2018-19 season. No player has ever achieved 4 consecutive matches.
