The 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC) team started full-scale precision operation training under tight security.

On the 19th (Korean time) at the Keno Sports Complex in Tucson, Arizona, USA, the national team practiced ‘small ball training’ such as batting, defense, and running training to prepare for a match.

On this day, the national메이저놀이터 team had batting training in the most remote ‘field 9’ in the sports complex.

After completing general batting training, the fielders created specific situations and checked various strategies according to the instructions of Min-ho Kim, third base strategy coach (LG Twins).

All the beasts participated in the training that day. Choi Ji-hoon (SSG Landers) and Park Hae-min (LG), who are good at performing operations, as well as Lee Jeong-hoo (Kiwoom Heroes), who is considered the best alternate hitter in the KBO League, and Park Byung-ho (kt wiz), the home run king of the 2022 season, also trained bunts.

The players seemed a bit awkward. The fielders of the national team rarely practice bunt training as they play the role of a foot plate in their team.

Lee Jeong-hoo, who finished training that day, said, “Director Lee Kang-cheol (kt) said that everyone should bunt in important situations.

Coach Lee Kang-cheol also explained, “It becomes a difficult situation if you do not score in a match-up,” and explained, “First of all, all players must prepare.”

In the WBC, if a winner is not decided in regular innings (9 innings), a match-up is held from the beginning of the 10th inning with a runner on second base to attack.

As players’ ability to carry out operations can determine victory or defeat, they must prepare for various situations.

On this day, the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) strengthened security for fear of exposure of the national team’s operation.

KBO asked domestic reporters not to record the operational training, and also stopped fans visiting the training ground from filming the video.

A KBO official said, “If baserunning and bunt operations, which assume a match-up situation, are exposed to opposing teams, they can be put in a disadvantageous situation,” and “we will maintain security until the end of the tournament.”
