Varner III wins seventh LIV Golf League tournament
Harold Varner III (USA) has won the seventh LIV Golf event of the 2023 season ($25 million prize fund).
Varner III carded five birdies and a bogey in the final three rounds of the tournament at the par-72 Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, USA, on 29 September, shooting a four-under 68.
With a final total of 12-under-par 204, Varner III won by one stroke over runner-up Brandon Grace (South Africa – 11-under-par 205). The individual title is worth US$4 million.안전놀이터
It was the first victory in 11 tournaments for Varner III, who has one win on the European Tour (now DP World Tour) and won the Asian Tour’s PIF Saudi International in February last year, where the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund is the title sponsor.
Varner III teamed up with Bubba Watson (USA) to share third place in the team competition, earning $125,000, 25 per cent of the third place prize money.
Sitting in second place, one stroke behind leader Mito Pereira (Chile) after two rounds, Varner III came from behind to claim his first LIV victory.
Pereira dropped one shot in the final round to finish third (10-under par 206).
Kevin I was eighth (7-under 209), Bryson DeChambeau was 10th (6-under 210) and Brooks Koepka (USA), who recorded his first major victory as a LIV player at the PGA Championship last week, was 14th (5-under 211).
