The Korean women’s ice hockey team will challenge for promotion to the second division of the world championship for the first time in the home room.

The national team, led by head coach Kim Do-yoon (Suwon City Hall), will participate in the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women’s World Championship Division 1 Group B (third division) held on the 17th at the ice rink of the Gwanggyo Complex Sports Center in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do.

Korea, currently ranked 19th in the world, started with Italy (17th) on the 17th, followed by Poland (20th) on the 18th, Slovenia (22nd) on the 20th, England (23rd) on the 22nd, and Kazakhstan (21st) on the 23rd. meet

The winning team of this tournament, which is played in a round-robin format in which all teams take turns playing once, gets a ticket to promote to the second division.

In this tournament held in Italy in 2018, Korea fell behind Italy by one point and ended the tournament as runner-up, unfortunately missing the opportunity to promote to Division 1 Group A (second division).

The 2019 tournament held in China also finished in second place, and in the aftermath of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19), the 2022 tournament in Poland, held for the first time in three years, ranked fifth out of six countries.

There are no easy opponents in this tournament either, but the national team led by coach Kim Do-yoon succeeded in hosting the tournament last year and continued to work together at the ice rink in Gwanggyo, where the game will be held.

The game that will be the watershed for promotion to the second division is the match against Italy on the 17th, the first edition of the tournament.

Italy, the only team with a higher world ranking than Korea, is a team that goes back and forth between the 2nd and 3rd divisions, and is evaluated to be superior in terms of objective power.

However, the national team enters the tournament with the determination to defeat Italy with its recently improved organization.

Players who competed in the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, such as Park Jong-a, the main pillar of Korean women’s ice hockey, Han Su-jin, Choi Ji-yeon, Jeong Si-yoon, Lee Eun-ji, Kim Hee-won, Lee Eun-ji, Lee Dae-nell, Park Chae-rin, Kim Se-rin, Park Yun-jeong, and Park Ye-eun, will also participate in this event. 안전놀이터
